Using Good Cooking Equipment

by Madeline M. Madnessy on March 18, 2009

What is your kitchen like? What kinds of tools and supplies do you have? Are they so old they look like they’re going to fall apart any minute? Were they the cheapest things you could find when you bought them?

What is your cooking like? Do you love to cook so much that you do it or the time or do you try to get out of it whenever you can? Do you feel like your cooking isn’t up to par because of the tools you are using?

There are many different ways the quality of your kitchen tools can affect you. When you first bought your cheap, low quality kitchen tools and appliances, you probably didn’t make much money and were just concerned with saving money.

The first problem with cheap kitchen tools and appliances is performance. If you use a ten dollar coffee maker, you are going to get ten cent coffee. The quality of your tools will translate into your food.

Another thing, you might be surprised to find out that cheap appliances and tools aren’t always cheaper. In fact, most of the time in the long run, they will cost you more money than the more expensive ones.

How does this make sense? When you buy a cheap coffee maker, and I mean a really cheap one, you’ll probably get mediocre or bad coffee, for maybe a year, or two, or less. You spent 20 bucks, but you’ll end up buying one every year for years to come.

Instead, you should have paid a little more, maybe fifty or sixty dollars total, and maybe you could 10, 20, 30, or more years out of it. You save over time and don’t have to continuously pay an inflated price for a cheap coffee maker year after year.

Don’t but the most expensive kitchen supplies you can find. You want quality, not just the most expensive. Look for reviews and shop around before you make any purchases.
