Fears can squash chances for any development and success. Fear by itself can be a hindrance and can hurt a person’s ability to make it through life so at times when an individual’s fear can rule their life, and lack any kind of reason. A person who allows it to rule their life can easily be stopped from leading a normal life. That bad part is that the person who has the fear is not the only one affected, but other,s including family, friends, and the people around him.
Fear is healthy because it makes a person see what of what is happening around him. A person can actually make their fears work for them instead of trying to hinder them however this takes much self control and some positive thinking. This fear can be caused by an event that happened in the past, or by a belief that they are incapable of managing with something. Some fears that have a real basis, but most are just the product of a wild imagination.
A phobia is the term used for a fear of something, but these fears can be irrational so a phobia can be ridiculous and exaggerated such as a person’s fear of water. Some people who have developed phobia that are well aware that it is not based on rational thinking but, they’re incapable of controlling their emotions and rise above this irrational feeling.
Some will quickly group a phobia with insanity but it’s not at all fair to come to the conclusion that just because a phobia exists, it is any indication of insanity. A person’s phobia can sometimes be embarrassing, especially when they are not able to control it and there are people who will not be able to control themselves when they come face to face with them.
Phobias can be simple like the simple fear of being in an enclosed area, or they can be complicated, such as an airplane related phobia however a social phobia can take the form of not being able to speak in public or of being surrounded by a crowd. Most phobias are characterized by sudden panic attacks like when a person is directly confronted with their phobia and where they’re forced to face it. It is normal to be afraid because it is rational to have fears but irrational fear and is already without basis, is called a phobia. It’s no longer a normal fear and can have a negative impact a person’s lifestyle.
A person who wants to get rid of their phobia should not see doctors who will go deeper just to discover the root cause and this can be a waste of time since finding the root of the phobia will not destroy it. The more important thing is to posses a strong will so fear will no longer rule their emotions. If one can understand how to handle their emotions, then they can be rid of their phobia.
