How To Give Your Home A Cozy Feel

by Barbie Williams on March 24, 2009

Everyone has a special taste in home dcor. If your home doesn’t display your liking it’s time for a change. You can decorate a new home or an old home to get the look and feel that you wish to create and enhance. Here are some great tips to help you reach your goals.

Pictures say 1,000 words or at least that is what they say. If you want to decorate why not decorate with what you already have in your home, pictures. You can place pictures of different shapes and sizes all around your home; on shelves, on corners, and more.

Even if you have just moved into your home you can still use the pictures of your old place to highlight the dcor in your new. Place a picture of your kids running through the sprinkler or the evening sun setting behind the mountain. You can use the pictures already in your collection to bring a little bit of the past to the present.

Consider adding wood furniture to your living area. Wood furniture has a traditional look and feel to the room and this is a feeling that most everyone is comfortable with. Wooden furniture is also easy to decorate and blend into your current dcor.

Add peace and tranquility to your home by using earth tones to your dcor; brown tones, gray, white, blues, greens, and more can be added to any home dcor. This can calm and soothe anyone.

You can also create individual welcoming spots in the home by placing area rugs down in certain areas. You can make a small room to the side of a very large room by placing an area rug down on the floor and set a table on top. This can distinctly be seen as a separate area.

Finally, tasteful window drapes are a great way to decorate your home. Window drapes absorb sound very well, muffling loud noises in your home. This reduces any possible intrusions into your peace and quiet and gives you the sense of being safe and secure within your own space.

Use the tips above to create your touch in a new home or a home you have lived in for years. Make it yours and personalize it to make you happy.
