Because carpets cost so much, it is better to take care of them for longer use. Carpets are commonly cleaned by using a vacuum but this may not be enough to remove carpet stains and dirt. Here are the different ways of taking care and cleaning your carpets.

Using vacuum is the common way for carpet cleaning. Some prefer to do the vacuuming once a day, while some who are too busy could do the vacuuming once or twice a week. Regular vacuuming is good for the carpet so that the dirt would not set in through the fibers of the carpet. The right way of vacuuming the carpet is by going through the carpet in parallel rows seven times, back and forth, and side by side.

Another important point to consider is the right choice of vacuum. You should base the vacuum on the type of carpet it will be used for. There are different types of vacuum for different types of carpet. Next thing to check is the parts of the vacuum; it should have properly working dual motors, it should have good filtration, correct height of brush, beater bar or rotating brush, and a top (not bottom) loading bag.

Vacuum may be an important tool to remove carpet stains and dirt, but for some carpets that had been embedded with tough stains, vacuum will not surely work efficiently as carpet stain cleaner. The carpet would need other carpet stain cleaners to remove dirt and stains and one of those is the shampoo for carpets.

Before putting shampoo on your carpet, make sure that it will not decolorize the carpet and check first if the shampoo will not ruin the fiber of the carpet. Shampooing is done by pre-spraying some amount of shampoo on to the carpet and let it work its way through the stains. Rinse the shampoo from the carpet with just enough water, so as the carpet would not soak, and then dry it; when it gets dry, vacuum it again.

If the stain is already in an extreme condition and vacuum is no longer applicable, steam cleaning is another option to remove carpet stain. The liquid-based cleaning agent plus the use of steam-cleaning machine can remove carpet stains as well.

To maintain the cleanliness and good condition of your carpet, make sure you also do your simple home-based techniques of carpet cleaning and carpet stain removal. There are some simple ways of maintaining a carpet. You should ask your merchandiser upon buying the carpet. They also have instructions attached in the package.

There are times someone in your family would accidentally spill a drop of chocolate or other colored drinks in the carpet. To immediately clean the stains, you can use kitchen products like vinegar, baking soda, lemon drops, or mild detergents and bath soap. Some home-made solutions are mixture of ammonia and water, alcohol and water, or baking soda and essential oils. You can also pay for carpet cleaning people if you can not remove the carpet stains by yourself.

To keep your floor clean and fresh inside the house, you should maintain the cleanliness of the carpet by using vacuum or other cleansers. Tell your family members, visitors, and friends to clean their shoes first before stepping into the carpet, or might as well, remove the shoes. Always provide clean door mat where they can have their feet and shoes clean.
