Getting Rid Of Lip Wrinkles Makes For Healthier Looking Lips

If you have lip wrinkles, you know that they can be very ugly and annoying. You might feel very self-conscious about them. You aren’t alone, though. Lots of people develop wrinkles around their lips. It happens naturally, as people get older.

One major thing you need to know about lip wrinkles is that smoking can really make them worse. In fact, smoking can make all your wrinkles worse. That’s because the skin of a smoker ages much faster than the skin of a non-smoker. So, the best way to keep your wrinkles under control is to quit smoking or never start.

The cause of your lip wrinkles is probably much less important to you than how to treat them, although both things are important to know. When it comes to treatment options, though, just keep in mind that wrinkles around your lips can and should be treated with the same methods you might use for any other wrinkles on your face.

In terms of wrinkle treatment, obviously, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So, be sure to keep your lips well hydrated, for a start. Moisturizer is very helpful, as is a good form of sunscreen. Lots of people make the mistake of putting sunscreen on their bodies, but not their face or lips, when they go out in the sun. Don’t make that mistake. Be sure to protect all of your skin, not just the skin below the neck.

Another important thing to do for your lips is to gently exfoliate them. In other words, you need to remove the dead skin cells that build up on and around them. If you already exfoliate your face, as everyone should, just be sure you don’t neglect your lips.

Seeking A Doctor’s Advice:

You can also think about using medical treatments to cure your wrinkle problem. Collagen treatments are very popular, these days, for example. So are Botox treatments. They’re designed to rid you of those wrinkled lips.

The thing about those medical treatments is that they do have a couple down sides, though. One big one is that they aren’t permanent. You would have to keep going back for treatments on a regular basis. That leads to the other problem. Such treatments can be very expensive, both originally and over the course of many repeat treatments.

Luckily, there are lots of other options out there. The market is full of wrinkle removal creams. Just be aware that different creams work differently for different skin types. While some may not work at all, some are great. So, you may have to go through a little trial and error process to find the right one.
