by charlie reese

One of the most difficult areas of debate and controversy in my church is Christian entertainment. We are a very conservative church and, although all of us are saved, not all of us have the same view about what constitutes appropriate and inappropriate entertainment values.

Take Christian the comics debate. My son has been reading Marvel comics for the past year or two, and I didn’t really see anything wrong with them after casually perusing them. The ones he was reading have a very clear view of good and evil, and seem to teach him that a superhero ” someone with unusual strength and power ” should use that power to help the weak.

When he showed one of his best friends the superhero comics, however, that friend was downright shocked. He was from a family that was even more conservative than ours in some ways, and he was only allowed to read Christian comics. Although many ways Christian comic books are no different than normal comics, there are certain things that you can put in superhero comics that you can’t put in a Christian book. There weren’t the same skintight outfits, for example, and certain risky themes were completely left out. In addition, the whole story was usually tied to a tale from the bible.

Although I approved of these Christian comics and saw them as good for my son to be reading, I disagreed with his friend’s parents who said that a Christian should not read normal comic books. To me, it seemed obvious that my son’s faith is not going to be threatened by his superhero comics. Nonetheless, the parents were adamant that these comics are inappropriate for a child of my son’s age. After a while, we just had to give up the argument. It wasn’t going anywhere.

One thing that Christian comics are really good for is showing the Bible to the unsaved. The great thing about Christian comics is they can make the Bible seem hip and accessible to young people, while simultaneously summarizing it briefly. The truth is, most people aren’t going to read the Bible just because you tell them to. Many of the people, however, will read a short comic book ” particularly if they’re young. I have a friend who is a Christian comedian who pushes these things religiously. He gets literally thousands of Christian comics and distributes them to all the kids in the audience when he does his act. He claims he has saved dozens of souls.

I first become involved in Christian ministries in 1996. To be honest, at the time I was not much of a committed Christian. I basically did it because my wife was into it. Christian ministry was alright for me, but it wasn’t anything I particularly put faith in. The Christian youth Ministry I was involved in did some good work in the community, and I supported that, but I wasn’t sure about the whole God thing. I liked that they were helping to keep kids off drugs and to provide job advice for the young, but I didn’t understand what any of that had to do with Jesus.

Part of it had to do with the dazzling variety of Christian ministries out there. There are people of nearly every description ministering for Christ, and some of them are more helpful than others. One Christian ministry might just preach the gospel to the converted, while another one might take trips to foreign lands, help disadvantaged people, and spread the word of Christ to folks who never would experience it otherwise. There are Christian healing ministries, Jews for Jesus, Protestant ministries of every stripe, and even groups that don’t really fit neatly into any category. Since all these people seem to believe somewhat different things, it was hard for me to believe that Christ was at the center of it.

That all changed when I had a religious awakening. It happened quite suddenly and unexpectedly, and to this day I can’t explain it except to say that God works in mysterious ways. I wasn’t asking for guidance, and I wasn’t even really thinking about Jesus Christ at the time. I was just sitting on my couch when it hit me ” the full glory of the love of God. It turned my work in the Christian ministries around overnight.

Before my religious awakening, I was just sort of going through the motions. I would do good work for Christian ministries, but I wasn’t really inspired about it. After, however, I felt tireless. No matter how much I would do, it would never be to too much. I had an almost inexhaustible zeal both for good works and for sharing my faith with others.

I studied the Bible with a group, participated in church events, and in general went beyond the call of duty. I would minister to Christians, atheists, and to a large number of agnostics who hadn’t made up their minds about the great questions of the universe. I can’t speak for the works of other Christian ministries, but I suspect that many of them have people with similar religious awakenings working inside. Now I understand how so many different people can be inspired by the same experience.

Christian parents need a break from the daily stresses of raising kids just like anyone else. Sending your kids to summer camp is one of the best ways to get them out of your hair for a few weeks while at the same time letting them have a summer adventure. Although there are plenty of excellent summer camps out there, many of them have a lot of temptations which your kids will have to navigate. Kids sneak around and experiment with all sorts of things they shouldn’t try at summer camp and, if you don’t know where the counselors are coming from, you can’t be sure they will keep your kids safe.

That is why I have been sending my kids to Christian camps every year. By sending them off to a Christian camp recommended by my minister, I can make sure that they will get the supervision that I would give them on my own. They get to enjoy camp outs, sports, sailing, swimming, and all sorts of other activities while still having a good, faith-based lifestyle that will keep them from straying from the beliefs of their parents.

There are many different styles of Christian camps. As a matter of fact, a mistake many parents make is assuming that a particular Christian summer camp has the programs that they want. There are religious camps where the majority of the day is spent studying the Bible and teaching Christian values. On the other end, there are Christian camps where the day-to-day activities are pretty secular. They may hold prayers and sing Christian songs, but that is about as far as it goes.

I send my own kids to pretty secular Christian camps. For me, after all, the main thing is to give them the opportunity to explore the outdoors in a healthy environment. At Christian camps, my kids have positive role models who they can really look up to and the right combination of freedom and restrictions. I know that the counselors will let them stay up late and have a lot of fun, but will keep them away from drugs and other bad things.

I may have to change my approach when I decide where to send my littlest one. She has been having a whole lot of trouble following the rules and fitting in at school, and I think that she really needs some structure this summer. I want her to be able to run around and be a kid, of course, but I also know that a little bit of discipline now might save her from a lot of trouble later on. I’ve been looking at some strict, Bible based Christian camps to send her to.

I never get involved in a new relationship without first looking at some compatibility horoscopes. It used to start out as a gag. I was a pretty whimsical teenager, and I looked at the compatibility horoscope merely as a joke when I got involved with my first boyfriend. Surprisingly, it told me that we had nothing in common and shouldn’t get involved. I expected an compatibility horoscope to tell you what you want to hear, so it was strange to get such a negative message. At the time, I was completely in love with him, so I figured that It was just an idle piece of superstition. There was no reason for me to believe that compatibility horoscopes were right, after all.

If I had listened, I would have saved myself a lot of heartache. Wouldn’t you know it, that love horoscope was absolutely correct. This wasn’t one of those daily horoscopes that goes for everyone either. It was something put together by a semi-professional astrologer for my benefit alone. When she told me what she told me, I was hard pressed not to laugh at first. In the long run, however, the joke was on me.

For the next couple relationships, I was sure to get compatibility horoscopes when they started. In both of them, the astrologer told me that they would last for awhile, but wouldn’t go on forever. I was dating people who were sort of half compatible with me ” good enough to have fun with, but not enough to form a lifetime partnership with. I was okay with this. I just wanted fun at the time.

The next couple relationships after that were different, however. I really liked my partner so much that I almost decided not to go in to get a compatibility horoscope. All of my compatibility horoscopes so far had seemed to doom my relationships, and I was worried that this would happen again. I wasn’t worried in vain. One of them was, according to the astrologer, a complete mistake. The other one would be fun, but not very deep. In both cases, she turned out to be right.

By that point, I had reached a state of complete faith in compatibility horoscopes. I did not have a particularly strong feeling about astrology in general, but I knew that this particular astrologer knew all about my love sign. That is why I was so surprised when I went for my latest reading. She was off the charts positive about it. She told me that I would fall in love, stay with this guy for ever, and live happily ever after. I was a bit incredulous, but I thought I’d give the relationship a try anyway. Two years on, we are still dating and are thinking about getting married. Needless to say, I’m pleased.

by George Tannous

Do you know someone who is suffering from financial stress, health problems, divorce, law suits, peace of mind, unhappiness and much, much more? This someone keeps trying and trying but nothing happens!

Hence, still stuck in the same place. Nothing seems to work.

Look up to the Heaven and ask God to be on your side. God loves you unconditionally, and He waits for you constantly.

All you have to do is ask Him to be on your side. Ask Him for things that you need. But don’t forget to give praise when good things start happening.

When you pray, ask as you would ask of your own mother or father. It doesn’t have to be complex.

Ask others to pray with you. Jesus tells us the following, “Matthew 18:19-20, “Again I say to you that if two of you shall agree on earth as regarding anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them by My Father in Heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.” If you don’t attend church try www.postmyprayer.com.

Don’t forget to forgive others as we ask God to forgive us.

In Matthew 14-15, Jesus tells us the following, \”In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can\’t get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God\’s part.”

It is simple! Pray and ask. Forgive others, and all good things will happen. May God bless you!

The majority of what we have come to know about Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan in which it is to be found, has been gathered from the observation of old properties in the area. However, many of these are in a very bad state and have been for a very long time. There are also legendary tales like the one about Joseph of Arimathea, who traded tin across the channel in Glastonbury and was one of the first missionaries to the country.

Tradition has it that the father of Caractacus took his son on a journey to Rome, where they were converted to Christianity. Later, they returned to the Vale of Glamorgan with Bran The Blessed, the missionary. It is a fact that Christianity was a popular belief there early in the Fourth Century and that south Wales sent several bishops to the Council of Rome.

One of the oldest shrines in the vicinity is St. Baruch’s Church on Barry Island, but it is also in very poor condition. Barry Island was one of the most important monastic retreats of the period in south Wales. Steep and Flat Holm islands in the Bristol Channel were also highly significant in this regard. Another very important part of the puzzle was St. Illtyd’s Seminary in Llantwit Major which had 2,200 students.

There was an ancient Roman fort and accompanying naval dockyard on Porthkerry Point, which had obviously jutted out further into the sea than it does now and later a castle was built on their ruins. There have been found many wolf and deer bones between Sully and Barry – enough to show that they had existed there in great numbers. There have also been a large number of findings of arrowheads, flints, needles and coins, proving that people were there to prey on them too.

Barry Island was first called ‘Baruch’s Island’, as far as we know, after Saint Baruch. St. Baruch had been found on one of the beeches, washed up dead in 700 AD. He is known to have drowned when returning from Flat Holm, which was commonly used as a retreat by religious people over Lent.

He and Gwelches had been disciples of St. Cadoc at the time. On their return to the island, they realized that they had left their enchiridion (religious manual) behind and St. Cadoc made them go back and get it. They never returned alive. St. Baruchs most famous disciple, St. Illtyd was educated there.

Barry Island has had its name changed several times over the centuries. It was once called ‘Island of the Saints’ and ‘Insular of Peiros’, after St. Peiro, who was St. Illtyd’s successor at the seminary at Llantwit Major. He was also St. Samson’s luminary. There was also a St. Doeninas, who was abbot of a nearby abbey on Friars’ Point.

If you have burning questions about your future that you want answered chances are you have considered going to a psychic. Getting a psychic reading is a great way to get insight into your future and get an idea of what may happen.

Most people , however, do not know what to expect from a online psychic reading or how to prepare to get the most out of it. The most important preparation is to have realistic expectations and well thought out questions that you want answered.

No matter what questions you want answered, you cannot expect any psychic to be perfectly right at all times. Any psychic that claims to be 100% accurate at all times is probably fake.

You cannot expect to get answers to questions if you are not entirely honest with your question. Many people withhold information or do not ask a question in the most honest way which can affect a psychics ability to give you and accurate reading. Always be upfront with a question and ask it in the most straightforward way as possible.

A psychic reading will give you answers to your questions and tell you what is likely to happen if you stay on your current path in life. A psychic can, however, not tell you what to do or give you advice.

They cannot give you advice on how to handle a situation other than to tell you the possible outcomes. It is always up to you to decide what actions you should take to avoid or confirm any possible outcomes to your questions.

A psychic cannot use their abilities to affect other people, bring back lost love or put curses on people.

A genuine psychic connects to your energy too see the different possibilities in our future. If your psychic claims to be able to cast hexes or bring back lost love, be wary, that is a big red warning flag for a psychic con artist.

All psychics have different psychic abilities. Some can give you specific answers to your question, such as names of people, places or dates, and some cant.

Some psychics can see these details and other can only see general insight into a question. The amount of detail a psychic will be able to see will also vary depending on the person they are trying to read and the nature of the question.

The study of the star signs is just a part of the complex astrological science, but it basically stands at the basis of the way people interpret their horoscope in relation with the position of the celestial bodies. Who trusts the horoscopes? Modern man no longer believes the predictions of the zodiac particularly since they are usually made randomly without any connection with the real study of the star signs. If you read your horoscope in the daily newspaper and you often noticed discrepancies with other publications, remember that nobody “cares to look into the stars for answers anymore.

If you read your horoscope in the daily newspaper and you often noticed discrepancies with other publications, remember that nobody “cares to look into the stars for answers anymore. If done correctly, the study of the star signs could reveal very impressive and truthful aspects of one’s life, complex astrological investigations are conducted only by the true “scientists of the zodiac. People are surprised to discover how many of the predicted or revealed aspects are true, though they may totally disprove what the personal horoscope in a magazine says.

The specificity of the individuality is reflected by the star signs whereas the personality as such falls under the incidence of the ascendant. The directions in one’s life and the potential creativity of the person could be influenced by the position of the stars and planets in the individual astrological chart.Though many web sites insist on the comprehensiveness of their star signs charts, there is almost impossible to reveal all the aspects by such a readings.

Though many web sites insist on the comprehensiveness of their star signs charts, there is almost impossible to reveal all the aspects by such a readings. Therefore, the data gathered by a professional astrologer could be useful as general guidelines that help you comprehend and explore personal nature; such analyses of the star signs could in fact increase the level of self awareness, helping one spot personal weaknesses or great strength points.

Special software is also used for star signs analysis since a map of the sky with the exact position of the constellations and the planets alignment is crucial for the correct interpretation. Besides the star coordinates on the sky map on the birth moment, the periodical position of the planets also requires study in order to create a good accurate horoscope that would reflect reality.

The superiority of astrological star signs investigations over regular newspaper horoscope columns is therefore beyond any doubt; while the former gives access to the real thing, the latter represents a combination of so-called predictions combined in a rudimentary fashion.

Early Tibetan Buddhist art was used to depict the life of Gautama Buddha in the Indian subcontinent in the sixth and fifth centuries BCE. Throughout Asia, Buddhism spread widely and with it its influence over Tibetan art and culture in Asia. These colorful forms are widely used in Buddhist meditation.

The art of Tibet has always been thought of as religious in nature, particularly that of Buddhist art in Tibet and all over the rest of Asia and the ancient Himalayan kingdoms like Bhutan, Nepal and Ladakh.

The Tibetan Buddhist art that was created before the mid twentieth century were dedicated to the depiction of sacred subjects and permeated with traditional technique. These works of Tibetan art not only detail the key concepts of philosophy and spirituality but also the energy of Tibetan art aesthetics in terms of the development of various schools of the Tibetan religion in different regions and countries. The Buddhist symbols used in the development of Buddhist art can be studied as variations of the influences that have contributed to Tibetan art over the past centuries.

In the fourth century saw the emergence of the Mahayana Buddhist influence. This particular influence emphasized those who wished to forgo achieving Nirvana in order to help those others in need. The deity Chenrezig is commonly depicted as a thousand armed deity with a single eye in each hand in the Tibetan art of this Buddhist influence.

Another great influence in Tibetan Buddhist art is the Tantric influence, its main symbol being the diamond thunderbolt. Tantric influence art is most often depicted as having many gods with angry faces that actually represent guardians of those who are dedicated to the practice and teaching of Tantric Buddhism and the purging of negative thoughts.

The in the Himalayas, a religion with shamanistic foundations known as Bon brings to Tibetan Buddhist art a wide variety of local gods. These local deities are often depicted in Tibetan temples along with statues of the Buddha. These shamanistic gods were once considered harmful, but are now subjugated and in the service of Buddha.

Concentration and meditation have been the hallmarks of Buddhist meditation techniques for centuries. Ancient practitioners of the art of Tibetan Buddhism have kept the central techniques preserved for centuries in ancient texts that teachers have passed down to students.

Tibetan Buddhist art also greatly influenced Hindu art, but in the tenth century, Buddhism was all but gone from the Indian subcontinent by the rise of popularity in Islam along with Hinduism.
