A panic attack is a symptom of an anxiety disorder that has emotional and physical symptoms. A panic attack is one of the most intrusive problems you can have. Although not a one hundred percent answer, research has discovered that a large number of people who experience panic attacks carry the gene DUP25. This article has been written with the intention to show panic attack sufferers that there are options available to them in dealing with these incidents.

You will have an advantage if you know what to look for if an attack is imminent and what to do about it. Chest pains and problems breathing are symptoms that panic attack sufferers complain of. You may also suffer dizziness leading to a feeling of panic, a racing heart combined with tingling sensations, obsessive worries and unwanted thoughts, and a feeling of overwhelming fear that something awful is going to happen. The fear cycle feeds itself increasing the effect of the panic attack on the victim.

Initially, it is often the chest pains alone that will trigger the panic attack as the victim believes they are having a heart attack. The doctor uses the frequency and intensity of the attacks to decide what medication he will use.

There is also nothing unusual for a panic attack victim to feel that they have lost touch with reality. Don’t delay in making an appointment to see you physician if you have anything like this happen to you. I suffered my last panic attack on the train, going to work and thinking about my panic attack later, I realized that I must have subconsciously been worried about a task that I had to perform at work that I hadn’t done for a while.

A healthy diet and regular physical exercise are two habits which could help reduce the number of opportunities for a panic attack to occur along with situations which could cause stress. A quick solution is to exploit panic attack medications that are known to reduce your symptoms.

Many panic attacks can be stopped without the use of drugs but some instances are so severe that only medication prescribed by your doctor can help. Some natural and herbal remedies are available which have some success in controlling conditions that are stress or depression related including panic attacks. Techniques involving yoga, muscle relaxation, and music have also been found to be successful in stopping a panic attack.

If however, you are looking for a long term solution to your panic attacks it is wise to seek a solution that doesn’t rely on anti-depressants, pills or chemicals.

Emotional and physical symptoms are part of a panic attack which is just another part of an anxiety disorder. Of all the medical problems a person can have, a panic attack is probably one of the most intrusive. Scientists have discovered that a gene dubbed DUP25 is carried by many people who suffer from panic attacks. The purpose of this article is to highlight that there are always options when dealing with panic attacks.

If you are prepared for an attack, in particular what to look for, then you will be able to deal with it better. It is quite normal for a panic attack sufferer to have problems breathing caused by their throat tightening up and suffering pains in their chest. This feeling of panic may increase because they’re heart starts racing and dizziness follows combined with bad thoughts and worries which make them feel if something real bad is going to happen. The fear cycle feeds itself increasing the effect of the panic attack on the victim.

Initially, it is often the chest pains alone that will trigger the panic attack as the victim believes they are having a heart attack. The doctor uses the frequency and intensity of the attacks to decide what medication he will use.

The physical effects the sufferer feels are often followed by the fear that that have lost all sense of reality. Speak to your doctor if any of these symptoms occur. Sometimes it can be the fear of doing something that you haven’t done for a while that sets off a panic attack, when you do not feel confident about carrying out a specific task.

A healthy diet and regular physical exercise are two habits which could help reduce the number of opportunities for a panic attack to occur along with situations which could cause stress. A quick solution is to exploit panic attack medications that are known to reduce your symptoms.

While a number of attacks can usually be controlled by the sufferer, there are those severe panic attacks that require medication which would have to be prescribed by your doctor. Natural Homeopathic and Herbal Remedies are available for many health conditions including natural treatments for anxiety and panic attack treatments. Other techniques that can help you to stop a panic attack include forced muscle relaxation, yoga, music, as well as exercise.

If however, you are looking for a long term solution to your panic attacks it is wise to seek a solution that doesn’t rely on anti-depressants, pills or chemicals.

What are the right kinds of words to perform covert hypnosis?

by Rob Andrews

What are the right kinds of words to perform covert hypnosis?

One way to really change the way someone feels about something is to use words that make the person see the thing in a different way. I call this reframing.

A common reframe is the glass is half full, not half empty metaphor. This causes someone to move from viewing a situation that was thought of as negative now as a positive.

Reframing can be used for very complex things as well by switching some words in a sentence. Look at the following examples:

It’s gorgeous outside today, but it’s going to be overcast tomorrow.

It’s gorgeous outside today, and it’s going to be overcast tomorrow.

It’s very pretty outside today, even though tomorrow it’s going to rain.

These sentences describe the same things, but the small change of only a word or two makes you think about the weather differently. Go over these sentences again and be sensitive to how each one makes you feel about the weather today and the weather tomorrow. Can you feel the different attitudes they bring out?

The ways of reframing are many.

By using words that enlarge the frame, the person you are speaking with will focus on the big picture.

Here’s an example that might sound very familiar. Someone is shopping for shoes and is concerned about the price because she knows she can get a better price across town. You might say, Wow, imagine getting those shoes for such a reasonable price without having to spend all the gas and time to go across town.

You can also reframe the context of a situation.

Friend: Man! I really wanted to go to the beach today but its so windy outside it wouldnt be any fun.

You: Sure, sitting on the sand in this wind won’t be fun, but imagine the waves! What a day for surfing!

And there is also the content reframe.

Friend: What a jerk! That man blew by us doing 100 mph. Can you believe some people!

You: He was going pretty fast. He had his emergency lights on, maybe he is going to the hospital.

So you can see how changing the language you use can actually change someones attitude about things.

Reframing is very powerful because it is a type of conversational hypnosis.

Reframing let’s you distract the listener’s conscious mind and causes her to listen to her subconscious brain.

There is no obvious hypnotic trance here like you would see in overt hypnosis, but nevertheless, this use of words in conversational hypnosis causes the listener to respond to things using her subconscious mind.

Learn more about conversational hypnosis and reframing, and try it out.

New evidence suggests that postpartum depression is no longer just a condition experienced by new mothers. It may also affect new fathers in much the same way. Postpartum depression in new fathers is a relatively new concept, perhaps coming to light thanks to a growing acceptance of the full range of emotional experience that men are capable of.

Society as a whole has traditionally embraced the idea of the strong male figure with a narrow emotional range. Men now have increasing freedom to admit their feelings on a wide range of issues, including those that our own fathers and grandfathers wouldn’t have dared discuss with others , including men’s postpartum depression.

Paternal postnatal depression in not a new phenomenon, although awareness of it is. More light has been shed on this in recent times thanks to increasing social acceptance of men’s emotions. Similar to the feelings that new mothers so often go experience following birth, men’s postpartum depression can strongly affect the entire family. In a recent interview on “The Mommy-Muse Is In: Empowering Your Journey into Motherhood,” men’s health specialist Dr. Will Courtney shared this: “So often, mothers and fathers expect this experience of “baby bliss” that everyone suggests parenting is going to be like. Then, suddenly, this screaming, helpless infant is in their laps and they don’t know what to do to calm this baby or soothe it. Suddenly, things start feeling a lot more difficult than they ever expected.”

For both sexes, parenthood is a life-altering event. Couples are turned into threesomes in the short amount of time that it takes the baby to be born. Although most men report feeling satisfied with being a father, they also report that making this transition can be quite daunting. In its most severe state, men’s postpartum depression (also known as Paternal Post-Natal Depression) may necessitate help from a mental health professional who is sensitive to the needs of new fathers and understands the condition.

Men typically are well-skilled at concealing their postpartum depression. They may, or may not, show any of the traditional signs that a new mother does, such as loss of interest, crying, and general sadness. Although a new father may attempt to “keep up appearances,” the best clue that he might have an underlying problem is found by being alert to things that appear to be “just not right” in regards to his normal behaviors.

Men may also try to avoid parenting altogether, according to Dr. Courtney. “I’m hearing a lot from new dads about the experience of not being able to tolerate being around the baby. They can’t stand the baby’s cries, the screaming; they say it makes them crazy. Or, they can’t stand to smell the baby, or to even see it or hold it. Typically, men feel horribly guilty about feeling that way, and also very confused because this is not what they were told to expect with the birth of their child. All they really know to do is to try to get away from the thing that is kind of making them feel all of these things. They end up spending as much time as they can at the office.”

Before, during, or after the pregnancy, both new fathers and new mothers can begin to plan for possible postpartum depression by: Understanding the condition from both the father’s and the mother’s point of view, and accepting that postpartum depression is NOT just an “old wives’ tale.” For those new parents or parents-to-be with a history of depression, beginning mental health counseling before the baby arrives is recommended. Open up lines of communication within the couple’s relationship. Many couples have problems when it comes to communicating their feelings with one another. Couple’s counseling during pregnancy may be necessary to better understand the issues you might have and develop more confidence in the new partnership you are about to enter. Although it is not practical to resolve all of your financial problems before having children, be aware that many of the problems that families experience are related to their finances. Establish a working budget before, during, or after the pregnancy in order to alleviate some of the stressors in the family. Establish a reliable network of support that you can turn to when you need a hand, whether it is with babysitting, shopping, or other duties.

Perhaps the most important bit of advice that can be given to new fathers and mothers when it comes to postpartum depression is to understand that it is a completely natural condition, nothing to be ashamed of. Counseling and treatment of postpartum depression is available. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but a mark of intelligence and the sign of a truly caring parent.

by Christy Cuellar-Wentz

Only recently has society begun to accept the idea that new mothers often go through a period of postpartum depression following the birth of their babies. Now we have begun to understand that new fathers are also susceptible to similar feelings as that of new mothers. In fact, men can experience paternal postnatal depression and overwhelming feelings of helplessness when becoming a father.

It is unlikely that men’s postpartum depression is a new phenomenon. Rather, men have probably kept silent about their feelings until social acceptance of men’s emotional experience has expanded. Paternal postnatal depression is similar to what women go through, as Dr. Will Courtney pointed out in a recent interview on “The Mommy-Muse Is In: Empowering Your Journey into Motherhood” with host Christy Cuellar-Wentz. “So often, parents expect this experience of “baby bliss” that everyone suggests parenting is going to be like. Then, suddenly, this screaming, helpless infant is in their laps and they don’t know what to do to calm this baby, soothe it.

Sadness, loss of interest, and crying – symptoms that might accompany a new mom during postpartum depression are not atypical of the new father undergoing the same issues and dealing with postpartum depression. Men are notorious for masking their true feelings, so a man’s outward signs may be a bit hard to detect. The best clues to a possible onset of the condition are signs that something has changed in a challenging way, or a feeling that something isn’t quite “right” in his behavior.

According to Dr. Courtney, men may try to avoid parenting and new fatherhood altogether, a sort of “out of sight out of mind” mentality.

Both new fathers and new mothers can take a proactive stance before the baby arrives (or after the birth) to combat postpartum depression, including: Accept the reality that post-partum depression is a clinically diagnosable condition – not a myth. If a man (or woman) has a history of other forms of depression, mental health counseling should be sought before the arrival of the new baby. Many couples have issues in regards to communication. Counseling specifically to address those communication problems before, during, or after the pregnancy can help to open up lines of communication and allow couples to support each other more easily. Because so much of the stress that families undergo is related to their financial situation, the implementation of a budget prior to the birth of their child is advisable to alleviate some of the issues that the couple has going forward into parenthood. Establishing a network of reliable support is imperative. Decide in advance who can be counted on to help out when the going gets tough.

New mothers and fathers must understand that postpartum depression is a completely natural condition that should be treated, not hidden. There is no shame in being depressed after the birth of a baby, especially considering that millions of parents experience some type of postpartum mood disorder each year. Seeking out treatment for the condition is an admission of being a parent who is willing to do whatever it takes to be the best parent and partner possible.

In the course of our everyday interactions with people, we are sure to meet one of the following five challenging behavior patterns. Often, we are caught unaware. Unless you’re quick on your feet, you may find an adequate response beyond your capabilities. Here we take a look at how to defuse such challenging behaviors. If you’re the mild mannered type, here’s some ammunition you can use, which might effect a change in the offender’s way of thinking.

Whether you’re at work, the grocery store, or at a friend’s house, challenging behavior patterns can be a problem. All you want is to go about your business in a peaceful, non-threatening way. However, there are people who thrive on challenging others, for reasons unknown. Conflict is something most people want to avoid, but others just can’t seem to let things go. In fact, certain individuals are not happy until they’ve made a mountain out of a molehill. Let’s take a look at the five most common cases and what you can do to deflect such behaviors, with a positive outcome.

Arrogance is the behavior of choice for insecure people. Such people must demonstrate their superiority in order to maintain a sense of adequacy. Here you are, minding your own business, when a coworker approaches you with a remark on an imagined failure on your part. You obviously didn’t do your part on this project. Why are you so lazy? An angry response won’t get you anywhere. You’re just playing into his hands. This challenging behavior requires both firmness and finesse. I completed my task. I’m sorry you’re dissatisfied with my performance, but if you want to take it up with the boss, be my guest.

Selfishness is the earmark of the narcissistic personality. These people have never grown up. Such people are only interested in their own satisfaction. You’re standing in line at the grocery store, with just a couple of items. The guy in front of you has a full cart. You ask if you can go ahead, because you’ve got a sick child waiting at home. He says no. In this case of challenging behavior, your response should be to reprimand him in no uncertain terms. Thanks for your gentlemanly qualities. Maybe it will give him pause. Maybe not.

Aggressive and hostile behavior is rampant in the world today. This is one of the most challenging behavior patterns. Unfounded accusations, hostile acts and aggressive violent acts can be most dangerous. If the person confronting you is bigger or badder, you’re well advised to leave it alone. Make your exit as gracefully as possible. Here, discretion is indeed the better part of valor.

Manipulative personalities present a special kind of challenge. These people lead you down the primrose path. What starts off as a seemingly innocent discussion turns into an ‘I told you so’ conversation. This challenging behavior pattern is a no-win. If you once recognize the manipulative personality, your best bet is to get out of the way and move on. This behavior is just a game, being played at your expense.

The last, in our lineup of challenging behaviors, is the control freak. This is a sure sign of an insecure individual who, in order to gain a modicum of personal security, must exercise control over others. Such a person usually uses personal relationships, under cover of friendship or romantic involvement. There is not a remedy for this type of relationship. The solution? Get out. Life is too short to waste time trying to rectify all of the world’s ills. Stay positive and just dust your feet off as necessary.

While a panic attack has both physical and emotional symptoms, it is, in itself, a symptom of an anxiety disorder. Of all the medical problems a person can have, a panic attack is probably one of the most intrusive. Scientific research into the reasons for a panic attack show that a large percentage of those who are likely to experience a panic attack carry the gene dubbed DUP25.

The feeling of chest pain merely makes the situation worse and increases the fear leading to full scale panic attack. The prescription medication the doctor will supply is based on how often the attacks occur and there severity.

By avoiding situations which could bring on a panic attack, sticking to healthy eating habits and exercise n a regular basis, you are likely to reduce the chances of a panic episode. One quick fix is using panic attack medicine to help reduce the symptoms you will experience.

Probably most of the time you will be able to control or stop a panic attack on your own without help but if you have a serious attack then only approved medication supplied by your doctor will be able to help. There are also natural and homeopathic solutions available for panic attacks, anxiety and stress. Other natural remedies to help stop panic attacks are simpler and rely on the use of music, yoga and exercise.

If however, you are looking for a long term solution to your panic attacks it is wise to seek a solution that doesn’t rely on anti-depressants, pills or chemicals.

Men have traditionally been viewed as the “rock” of the family, and of society itself – unable to express emotion or admit weakness, feeling only a drive for power and success. That old-world mindset is rapidly changing. Men are becoming empowered to admit their true feelings on issues their forefathers wouldn’t have dared to address, including the depression they sometimes feel following the birth of a child.

“Mommy- Muse” Christy Cuellar-Wentz recently interviewed men’s mental health professional Dr. Will Courtney to unearth some valuable insight on this condition that often plagues new fathers. He said, “So often, parents expect this experience of “baby bliss” that everyone suggests parenting is going to be like. Then, suddenly, this screaming, helpless infant is in their laps and they don’t know what to do to calm this baby or soothe it. Suddenly, things start feeling a lot more difficult than they ever expected.” A rising social mindset is allowing new fathers to express their feelings more truthfully. This is finally shedding light on paternal postnatal depression, unrecognized until now.

For both new fathers and new mothers, parenthood is an undeniably life changing event. Making the transition from being a couple to a threesome in such a short period of time is a lot cope with. Most men report being satisfied with being a father, but also report that the transition period into being a father can be a daunting and frustrating period in their lives. Men’s postpartum depression (clinically known as Paternal Post-Natal Depression), in its most severe state, can require that new fathers seek help from a qualified mental health professional who is well-versed in the condition and understand the pressures of becoming a father.

Have you heard of those who were able to get a high IQ Score by even providing you proof that they have really gotten a score that has surpassed the average? The question here is, do you actually believe that? Sometimes we really are given the wrong direction in terms of failing or making it, when it comes to IQ tests. We tend to think that this test is actually the basis of our true intelligence but the truth is, its not! Let’s say one is to take an IQ test and was able to receive a first score through getting the right answers, this would then be the termed as the raw score. from here you will be following specific standards that should be followed to get the statistics and the averaging. only under certain conditions would you be able to get a grasp of the idea if specific circumstances are already met. Below are a few examples of the standards that you have to look into.

There hasn’t been that much effective study that could actually help in the process of making the whole system close to perfection especially when comparing scores that are relative with an IQ test result. It is actually very difficult to compare IQ scores even if both digits are on the highest points. There is actually lack of information, and that is the reason why you have to determine where the highest score was received to be able to compare.

Another issue is that, in having the power of deciding for an IQ test, you should as well consider the level of difficulty when taking the test. You are aware that the more difficult the questions are the more chances of you getting a low score right? So from there, you would still have to decide what would be the mean in passing or failing this particular part of the test. Let’s say that you had taken the test twice for a certain label and it appears that you get different scores from the results, this just means that there are particulars that has to be taken into consideration with regards to difficulty level that may affect the scores that you get in an IQ test.

Basically what one has to look after in finding good IQ scores is what the contents of the test may be. One may be able to get a high score for a certain portion of an IQ test but may actually fail on another test. So, the content of the test actually determines the difficulty and after which determines how one would be able to obtain a good IQ score.

There comparative cases that may be done for IQ test results that are taken by a certain individual after a particular age and time. The results may vary and decrease as one enters a higher level and that would be because of the time as well as the age difference between a certain period of time that the test took place.

Before the term IQ was established, metal age or MA was the first term that is being used as a basis of comparison with regards to intelligence. The term itself referred to the ratio of MA to one’s age arranged according to temporal order and then times one hundred to do away with the decimal points. So in this case, getting a score of 100 would be the average and the deviation that is placed higher than or lower than that would refer you as for being above and below average. this type of system was used until a realization came to the point that standard deviation is not a constant entity.

If you are looking for certain rules or principles to follow in taking IQ tests and understanding its contents via the manuals that are provided. This would then also include information on standard deviation and other principles. Despite anything to the contrary, you may find out that these complex methods haven’t been that very much of an advantage for those who develop tests when it comes to bringing about a reference point where these tests can definitely be evaluated.

To do this, those who develops tests should be able to acquire the precise representation of a certain population, although this may be somehow difficult to obtain. The difference of the variables being compared makes it more complicated to find the right sample for the study.

The truth is, there is no such perfect or good IQ score that one can actually look at. Any digit or quantity would not be able to fulfill a requirement that would determine that it certainly is a good IQ score. So any information that relays to this may not be that reliable because it is not that existent. Regrettably, this issue is not something that would be more of a concern to those who are in the testing industry, so they don’t bother to explain that this is something that many has been putting the wrong interpretation on.

First off, here are a few things not to do….

* Do not call them or message them constantly

* Don’t stalk them

* Do not stay at home and cry and be sad

* Do not go to a bar and try and pick up

* Don’t get depressed

Here are some things that you should be doing….

* Go out with your friends

* Get yourself into better shape

* Give your ex some space to be alone

* Get out and get some sun and read a book

* DO go out and meet new people and make new friends

The one thing that will push an ex even further away is clingyness. Give them room to breathe. If they do not want to hear from you, do not call them! Leave them alone. I love this saying and it is something I use often…. Give them the best gift of all…..

Give them the gift of missing ‘you’.

That’s really powerful stuff, isn’t it? Whenever a person cannot have what they want- they want it more. It’s simply the ‘law of attraction’ at work. Now, if that someone see that person being enjoyed by someone else, it also makes them want that person EVEN MORE. This is where not being available and not sitting by the phone, and getting up and going out, makes a big difference.

I know you don’t ‘feel’ like going out. But, do it! It’s one of the best ways to get your ex back- I promise. Who knows- perhaps you might even find someone else while you are out who is even MORE what you wanted in life.

Nothing turns any person on this planet off more than desperation. No one wants to be with someone who is desperate to be with them. It’s not romantic, it’s scary.

Stay positive and positive things will happen in your life.
